Meet equine artist
Joanne Mehl at

Joann Mehl

Joanne Mehl is widely known in equestrian circles where her paintings grace private collections, galleries and public venues. Devoted to both art and horses her entire life, Joanne's work pays tribute to the beauty and passion of the world she loves as a rider, and as an artist. She received her BFA with honors in 1983 from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and has gone on to create a substantial body of work. Painting full time since 1996, she has received commissions from clients across the country. From commissioned portraits to racing scenes, Joanne demonstrates an exceptional artistic range, as well as intimate knowledge of the equestrian world. Joanne�s work has been published in many top equine periodicals including the covers of Chronicle of the Horse, Dressage Today , Polo Player's Edition and Keeneland Magazine. In 2001 Joanne produced a 12' x 51' mural for the dressage arena at Devonwood Equestrian Centre in Sherwood, Oregon. She was the official artist for the 2007 Breeder's Cup at Monmouth Park, NJ, and is currently represented by Cross Gate Gallery in Lexington, KY. Joanne Mehl lives in Portland, Oregon and rides a seventeen-hand warmblood named Expresso. She can be found at www.joannemehl.com.
